Protective cover preserves the shape of cartridge type filter elements. The cover is made up of one thermally resistant high strength polymer with a covering of a thermoplastic chemically resistant second polymer. Pref. polymers are polyethyleneterephthalate or polybutyleneterephthalate for the first and polyethylene, polypropylene or poly(4-methyl-1-pentene) for the second.
