OZONE REACTOR PROCESS CONTROL

A process control for adjusting the pulp brightness of kappa number is realized by utilizing feedforward and/or feedback control. Specifically, the feedforward control (310) adjusts the amount of ozone (270) to a bleaching reactor (205) based on on-line measurements of ingoing pulp brightness or kappa number (240), and ingoing amounts of pulp (260) and ozone (255). More particularly, using a predictive equation based on the prior operating characteristics of the reactor, the amount of ozone to achieve a desired brightness or kappa number is determined and the ozone gas flow rate (285) adjusted accordingly.
