The platform consists of tread plates (1) at each coach end, with each tread plate automatically swivelling into its no-use position, on actuating the decoupling lever (31). The support lever (2) at the decoupling lever side is swivelable and coupled to a Z-shaped toggle lever (4) via a shaft (3) through a buffer column (38).One shank (5) of the toggle lever is coupled to a force storage spring (12) via a pull-rod (11), while the other shank (6) has several arresters (8, 8') coupled to a releasable lock (14) on the buffer column. The arresters and lock contain a safety unit coupled to the lock to prevent functional failures.
