HORN SWITCH FOR AN AIR BAG COVER

A steering wheel incorporates a pad cover or air bag cover door (88) with a membrane switch (40) adhered to the inner surface (86) of the air bag cover door (88). Switch (40) includes a pair of conductors and a non-conductive layer which together form a mesh pattern. A plurality of standoffs (92) protrude from the inner surface (86) about switch (40) for spacing the switch (40) away from the folded air bag and for protecting the edges of the switch (40) from being snagged by the air bag upon deployment.
