A negatively charged liq. developer comprises a nonpolar liq. (I), thermoplastic resin particles (II), a nonpolar liq. soluble ionic or zwitterionic charge director (III) and an aluminium hydroxy carboxylic acid charge adjuvant (IV). (IV) is incorporated into (II) and disposed in (I) and (III). The adjuvant is an aluminium alkylsalicyclic acid or aluminium di. tert. butylsalicylic acid. A 2nd charge adjuvant may also be present selected from polyhydroxy cpds. contg. at least 2 hydroxy gps., an amino alcohol, polybutylene succinimides and metallic soaps. The resin is a polymer of styrene, (meth)acrylate, ester or mixts., copolymers of ethylene and vinyl acetate, polymers of propylene, ethylene and acylic acid. More pref. the resin is a copolymer of ethylene and (meth)acrylic acid, an alkyl ester of (meth)acrylic acid with a melt index of 500 at 190 deg.C. The pigment is cyan, magenta, yellow, red, green, blue or brown or mixts. of C black. Liq. is an aliphatic 12-16C branched hydrocarbon or mixts., pref. a soluble sulphonate, more pref. lecithin, most pref. quat. ammonium block copolymer. |
