PURPOSE:To produce a low iron loss grain oriented electrical steel sheet which permits a stress relieving heat treatment without deteriorating the characteristics thereof by subjecting a stock for the grain oriented electrical steel sheet to hot and cold rolling then subjecting the surface of the steel sheet to local etching prior to the final finish annealing. CONSTITUTION:The slab of the grain oriented electrical steel sheet is hot rolled and the hot rolled sheet is then annealed at need. The hot rolled sheet is subjected to one pass or two passes of the cold rollings including intermediate annealing to the final product thickness. The cold rolled sheet is thereafter subjected to decarburization annealing and final finish annealing. The surface of the steel sheet is subjected to a local etching treatment by chemical etching or a electrolytic etching during the time after the above-mentioned final cold rolling before the execution of the final finish annealing in the process for producing the grain oriented electrical steel sheet by the above-mentioned stage. The grain oriented electrical steel sheet which has the excellent magnetic characteristics, more particularly the iron loss characteristic and is not deteriorated in the characteristics even when subjected to the high-temp. heat treatment such as stress relief annealing is thereby easily obtd. |
