A method and apparatus for recording/reproducing video signals on or from storage media. A video signal is divided into k video blocks in a time-axis direction, wherein k is an integer not less than 2, finding a block skip interval s which is an integer satisfying an equation s = (pk + 1)/n when p is an integer not less than 1 and n is an integer not less than 2.
