PURPOSE:To obtain the title compound at a high reaction rate in high yield without by-product formation, by reacting an olefin with carbon monoxide and hydrogen in the presence of a rgodium catalyst comprising specific two types of organic metalloids in excess as a ligand. CONSTITUTION:An olefin is reacted with carbon monoxide and hydrogen in the presence of a rhodium catalyst comprising a mixed ligand of (a) a a tertiary organic phoshorus and (b) a tertiary organic arsenic compounds of the formula XR3 (X is P or As; R is organic group) in excess and carbon monoxide to give an aldehyde having carbon atoms one more than the olefin. The ratio of (a) to (b) is preferably 2:1-1:2. |
