PURPOSE:To obtain a new compound having excellent developed color tone and storage stability and useful as an electron-donative color-developing agent for pressure-sensitive recording material, heat-sensitive recording material, etc. CONSTITUTION:The compound of formula I (R1 is 1-8C alkyl; R2 is 5-8C alkyl), e.g. 2-(3-methylanilino)-3-methyl-6-(N-methyl-N-isopentylamino)fluoran. The compound of formula I can be produced by reacting a benzophenone compound of formula II with a diphenylamine compound of formula III (R is H or lower alkyl) in the presence of a dehydrative condensation agent at 0-100 deg.C for several to several tens hr and treating the reactional product with an alkali. |
