PURPOSE:To provide a microorganism carrier for soil improvement which can be prepd. by a simple and economical method, has many pores suitable for holding microorganisms for soil improvement, and can provide nutrition, to provide a soil amendment prepd. by causing the carrier to hold microorganisms for soil improvement, and to provide a method for soil improvement using the amendments. CONSTITUTION:Soil is improved by giving soil a soil amendment which is prepd. by causing a carrier having many pores for holding microorganisms for soil improvement to hold nutrition for microorganisms together with microorganisms capable of decomposing harmful substance in oil, such as phenol or trichloroethylene.
