PURPOSE:To obtain the subject initiator which is soluble in an acyclic alkane useful to obtain a polymer having a narrow molecular weight distribution by reproducibly polymerizing a monomer, by constituting the initiator substantially from a mixture of given amounts of respectively specific lithioamines. CONSTITUTION:This initiator is substantially composed of a mixture comprising about 90 to about 10 pts.wt. lithioamine having the formula A1Li and about 10 to about 90 pts.wt. one or more other lithioamines each having the formula A2Li. In the formulae, A1 and A2 are different and independently selected from dialkyl-, alkyl-cycloalkyl and dicycloalkyl-amine groups represented by formula I (wherein R1 is a 1-about 12C alkyl, cycloalkyl or aralkyl) and cyclic amine groups represented by formula II (wherein R2 is an alkylene or hydroxy or amino-alkylene having an about 3C to about 12C methylene). |
