PURPOSE:To obtain the subject composition prepared by blending a specified polyphosphonic acid amide as a flame-retardant with a thermoplastic polyester, remarkably excellent in flame retardancy, capable of molding without generating a volatile substance and exhibiting an excellent hydrolysis resistance. CONSTITUTION:The objective resin composition is prepared by blending (B) 0.5 to 100 pts.wt. polyphosphonic acid amide having a repeating structural unit of the formula (R<1> is an aryl, an alkyl, etc.; R<2> and R<3> are each H or an alkyl; Y is a divalent heteroaromatic ring residue) with (A) 100 pts.wt. thermoplastic polyester (preferably polyethylene terephthalate, polybutylene terephthalate, etc.) synthesized from a 8 to 20C aromatic dicarboxylic acid and/or its lower alkyl ester and a 2 to 20C aliphatic diol and/or alicyclic diol as the starting raw materials. In addition, a compound in which Y in the formula is a triazine residue is preferably used as the component (B). This component (B) is obtained generally by reacting a diamine with an aryl- or alkyl-phosphonic acid dihalide in the presence of a hydrogen halide scavenger in a solvent. |
