PURPOSE:To secure a good combustion of mixture in a combustion chamber by performing a fuel injection at the time of engine low, medium load driving or high load driving properly. CONSTITUTION:This engine is provided with a pair of an intake valves 5a and 5b, and a fuel injection valve is set up in an intake passage leading to the intake valve 5a on one side, while the intake passage is made so as to be joined together with the intake passage leading to the intake valve 5b on the other. At each opening period of both these intake valves 5a and 5b, when an air-fuel mixture is formed in a limited area in a combustion chamber, fuel is sprayed as shown in F0 in time of an intake stroke after a spitting action of burnt gas to the intake passage set up with the fuel injection valve is finished. In this connection, when the whole area in the combustion chamber is filled up with the mixture, the whole fuel is sprayed as shown in F1 in time of opening the intake valve before the spitting action is produced, or at least a part of fuel is made so as to be sprayed as shown F2 at a time when the spitting action is produced otherwise. |
