PURPOSE:To obtain a modified carbon-containing recording material which does not undergo viscosity change, agglomeration, sedimentation and particle diameter change even after a long-term storage and has good dispersion stability by incorporating powdery carbon modified by oxidation and fluorination. CONSTITUTION:The particle diameter of the powdery carbon (e.g. graphite) is desirably 5mum or below. The modified carbon is prepared by a process (A) comprising subjecting the powder to oxidation to introduce oxygen into the surface of the powder and subjecting the treated powder to fluorination or a process (B) comprising subjecting the powder to fluorination and subjecting the treated powder to oxidation treatment. Desirably, process A is adopted. The oxidation is performed by liquid-phase or gas-phase oxidation. The fluorination is performed by using a fluorine gas of a partial pressure of 1-700mmHg at 50 deg.C for 0.5min to 1hr. The amount of the carbon used is 3-30wt.%. 40-80wt.% water or water-soluble organic solvent is used as the solvent. Although not particularly limited, the resin used is suitably water-soluble or water-dispersible one, and is added in an amount of usually 1-20wt.%. In addition to the above components, a lubricant, an antiseptic, a rust-preventive, and a pH adjuster are used.
|
