PURPOSE:To prevent unevenness in an image generated due to a change in frequency in use by uniformizing frequency in use of a plurality of nozzles on a print head, which has a greater number of nozzles than other print heads, in an ink jet recording device having a plurality of print heads which are different in a number of nozzles. CONSTITUTION:A unit 5051 for detecting a number of nozzles used serves as detecting whether color printing is required or not, on the basis of image data produced from data received from a host computer. A pattern generating unit 5052 generates a pattern for uniformizing frequency in use of respective nozzles on a print head, that is, a black color print head, which has a greater number of nozzles than other print heads, on the basis of the detected signal from the unit 5051 for detecting a number of nozzles used. A masking unit 5053 employs a logical product of a pattern generated from the pattern generating unit 5052 and a print pattern being actually printed in an image buffer 5034. When the two patterns are superposed on one another, recording of original image data in the image buffer 5034 is completed. |
