A method and apparatus for the manufacture of slide fastener carrying a discrete formation of differently colored elements in selected orders. Method and means are disclosed for feeding a plurality of colored elements selectively one at a time in a vertical direction and transferring one such element horizontally to a predetermined position for gravity fall onto a stringer tape.
