PURPOSE:To improve both combustion and exhaust characteristics by forming both recess and projection parts in a fuel passage of a fuel injection valve, while making fuel remain behind in the recess part when inactive matter comes into this fuel passage, and mixing this residual fuel with the inactive matter for injection at a time when this inactive matter is injected. CONSTITUTION:During the dormant period of fuel injection, inactive matter 19 fed to an inactive matter passage 23 of a fuel injection valve 9 by a control valve 16 flows into a fuel passage 22 by way of a converging part 21. If so, fuel remaining in a fuel injection pipe 8 and the fuel passage 22 is pushed back to the side of a fuel injection pump 3. At this time, in a recess-projection part 24 in this fuel passage 22, the fuel remains behind in a recess part 24B becoming a stagnation. Now, if fuel is fed under pressure from the fuel injection pump 3, turbulence grows larger in this recess-projection part 24, the fuel left behind in the recess part 24B and the inactive matter both are fed under pressure to a nozzle hole 10 as being mixed together. In brief, fuel in an oil sump part 12 is sprayed out of the nozzle hole 10 and then a mixture between the fuel and the inactive matter is sprayed for injection. |
