PURPOSE: To print even with a decreased amount of a dye by using printing size comprising the specified mixture of a hydrocolloid such as guanol type with calcium citrate and an alginate. CONSTITUTION: A blend of a pigment, a dye other than cationic ones, a hydrocolloid selected from the group consisting of guar, guar oxides, carboxymethyl guar, hydroxyalkyl guar or polyvinyl alcohol, carboxymethyl cellulose, xanthan gum, locust gum soluble in cold water, starches soluble in cold water, hydroxyethylated starches and hydroxypropylated starches and calcium citrate is prepared, wherein the ratio of hydrocolloid to calcium citrate is within a range of 10:1-1:20. The blend and an alginate are mixed to make a mixture in which 16-60% of cations in the alginate being calcium-substituted with calcium citrate. A substrate is printed with a printing paste compsn. contg. 10-90 wt.% of the mixture. |
