PURPOSE:To treat a waste gas at a relatively low temp. to avoid the liberation of ammonia and to efficiently desulfurize and denitrify the waste gas by dividing the cross-flow moving bed into two beds and using a carbonaceous catalyst on which sulfuric acid is adsorbed by bleeding a part of the waste gas. CONSTITUTION:A waste gas heated to about 60-180 deg.C is introduced from a line 1, a part of the waste gas is bypassed into a small-sized desulfurization reactor 9 packed with a carbonaceous catalyst, brought into contact with the catalyst in counterflow or cross-flow, desulfurized and joined to the waste gas flow. Ammonia 2 is injected into the waste gas flow, and then the waste gas is introduced into the desulfurization and denitrification reactor 3. The reactor 3 is-divided into two sections, the front section 4 is packed with a carbonaceous catalyst of activated carbon, etc., and the rear section 5 with a carbonaceous catalyst which has been filled in the reactor 9 and on which sulfuric acid is adsorbed by contact with the waste gas. The desulfurized and denitrified waste gas is discharged into the atmosphere. |
