PURPOSE:To reduce a surplus space in a tank of discarded ink by exactly knowing a storage volume of the tank of discarded ink for storing discarded ink which is discharged in a discharge recovery processing in an ink jet recording device. CONSTITUTION:When a discharge recovery processing is performed by sucking of ink (step S2502), an amount of discarded ink is newly set (step S2503) which corresponds to a sum of an amount of ink discharged by the sucking, an amount of ink which has been discarded, and an amount of ink which is found on the basis of the time elapsed from a preceding recovery processing. |
