PURPOSE:To provide an ink jet recording apparatus that can print with high quality by controlling drop-volume to be nearly constant, and prohibiting the occurrence of ink mist. CONSTITUTION:CPU 1 serves to read in picture image data to be printed. At this time, the number of printing dots is counted. A printing rate is obtained from the number of counted printing dots and area of a printing region, and from the printing rate obtained, the picture image 5 to be printed is determined which patterns 1-3 it corresponds. On the basis of the determined patterns, a driving frequency is set on a frequency generating part 8. By the driving frequency, a head controller acts to drive a head 10 and further a carriage controller 11 acts to drive a carriage 12, thereby effecting the recording of the picture image data. |
