The hard hat comprises an outer shell made from a material which is mechanically resistant to impacts and, inside this outer shell, an inner shell designed to fit tightly around the skull of someone wearing the said hat. On the front, the hat comprises a transparent visor 20 which can be moved between a rest position, in which this visor is pulled up inside the hat and is for the most part housed between the outer shell 1 and the inner shell 2, and a working position in which the said visor is pulled down and covers an area in front of the wearer's face, shielding his eyes. Application to hard hats which also provide protection for the eyes. <IMAGE>
