In a process, the choice of which depends upon the class of material, is added to specific components of the mixt.; this additive emits a partic. light signal with th aid of UV irradiation in a later sortation; using an appropriate optical sensor this signal an then be picked up to perate a gripping or separating device, so that only those components of the mixt. with the relevant dyestuff are removed from the mixed material. Pref. components concerned are glass, plastics, paper, and newspaper packaging materials.
