A stackable container has a top opening and outwardly inclined side and end walls 3, 4 so that it can be stacked with similar containers in a nested fashion. The container has a lid in two sections 5, 6 hinged to opposite side walls, the hinges 7 being so arranged that they do not intrude into the opening at least when the lid is open so that the open lid sections can be folded back against the sides in the open position allowing them to be nested into a container below instead of protruding from the sides of the stack.
