A system (100) for determining the position of a user using orbiting satellites (132,170,200,206) of a global positioning system and a reference station. The system comprises two position calculating means (700,710) for calculating pseudoranges for the satellites in view of a reference antenna at the reference station. Further calculating means (700,710) receive said ephemeris data and determine whether or not it is corrupt and amend the data to provide a more accurate position estimate.
