A combined thin film magnetic head includes a first yoke type magnetic head (200a) and a second yoke type MR head (200b) a front gap (20a, 20b) is provided at a front end of the first yoke type MR head (200a), and a second yoke type MR head (200b) is provided behind the first yoke type MR head (200a).
