PURPOSE: To provide a driving device for optimizing the follow-up control of stack sheet during print process and a control method therefor. CONSTITUTION: A high speed operation for loading/unloading sheets on/from a sheet stacking plate is required for the reason of rationalization. Consequently, the sheet stacking plate is subjected to stepping follow-up control through an elevator such that the uppermost sheet is taken out smoothly by means of a suction head and transferred into a print machine. A DC brushless motor 4 is constituted as an external rectification type stepping motor. More specifically, a control electronic 8 conducts a phase winding 9 such that the DC brushless motor 4 is controlled continuously at static rotor positions of appropriate order.
