PURPOSE: To enhance the color rendering property of a lamp and arc stability by supplying power in a semi-resonance two-way current wave form. CONSTITUTION: A pulse generator or a controller 28 supplies clock or control pulses P1, P2 to control input of SW1 and SW2 through conductive wires 30, 32. The SW1 and SW2 are a field effect transistor (FET) having a gate input electrode which is turned on by responding to the pulses P1, P2. When the SW1 and SW2 are turned on with pulses P1, P2, non-polar switching forced voltage V is applied to a second lamp electrode 34 through an inductor or a choke 36. The illustration of a high voltage ignition circuit generally used for first ignition of a lamp 12 is omitted. |
