Lipophilic and amphiphilic compounds which are amide derivatives of porphyrins displaying at least one of photosensitizing, radio-pharmaceutical and immunological activity and having water solubilizing groups attached thereto by bonds selected from amide bonds and peptide bonds, for selective accumulation in malignant tissue in a living body.
