<p>PURPOSE: To quickly realize IDCT in a digital image processing system by performing IDCT utilizing the statistical characteristics intrinsic to an input sequence. CONSTITUTION: An image sampling system 12 samples a physical image to generate an analog space sample related to the image. An image signal processing sub-system 14 executes quantization to convert the analog sample to individual samples based on the output of the system 12 and executes unitary transformation including discrete cosine transformation, quantization release, and inverse unitary transformation including IDCT. In this case, plural LUTs are used in order to make a CPU execute quantization release of an input value and standardization of its reconstruction kernel. LUTs are highly optimized by using the characteristic that the scaled reconstruction kernel is symmetrical, the intrinsic characteristic of quantization, and statistical attributes of the quantized input value. An image constituting sub-system 16 outputs an image based on the output of the system 14.</p> |
