PURPOSE:To distinguish, detect, and manage the equipment states of lines and terminal equipments on a packet switchboard and to realize the quick and most suitable maintenance service in accordance with respective device states of lines and terminal equipments. CONSTITUTION:One of data communication channels provided in an ISDN line 2 is set to a channel B2 for maintenance, and a switching centralized controller 16 in a packet switchboard 11 is provided with a network maintenance means 17 for device state detection and management, and this means 17 is provided with a line state management function, which detects and manages a fault and its restoration of the line 2 based on transmission/reception of message data on a protocol, and a terminal state management function which uses the channel for maintenance to acquire the device state of a terminal equipment and detects and manages a fault and its restoration of the terminal equipment 3. |
