PURPOSE: To electrophorese a fluorescently marked DNA in a plurality of channels through a gel electrophoretic slab in order to automatically sequence the DNA. CONSTITUTION: A DNA sample is separated to fluorescently marked DNA bands according to size of DNA fragment in a gel electrophoretic slab. The separated sample is photoelectrically scanned by a laser and a sensor. The laser performs the scanning by use of a scanning light in a scanning light frequency within the absorptive spectrum of the fluorescently marked DNA sample, and the light is sensed in the emitting frequency of the marked DNA. The light is regulated from the laser in a predetermined regulated frequency, and the fluorescence of the regulated frequency emitted by the DNA band is detected. The background noise from a medium from which the light is transmitted is discriminated. |
