PURPOSE:To provide the data transfer device which can emulate various network configurations of the parallel processing system by using hardware. CONSTITUTION:The parallel processing system is composed of plural processor elements equipped with respective data transfer devices. Each of the data transfer device 1 has one internal port T, four external ports N, E, W, and S, and a rewritable table 2 which contains the connection relation among the ports. The table 2 has an input field 4 indicating the input direction of data, an attribute field 5 showing the attribute of input data, and an output field 6 indicating the output direction of data. Information is written in the table 2 before successive data transfer is started, and the connection relation among the ports in the data transfer device 1 is previously determined by the hardware. When the data transfer is performed, information showing from which port the data are inputted and the attribute of the input data are used to retrieve the table 2 and a port to which the data is expected to be outputted is selected. |
