PURPOSE:To provide the manufacturing method of a metallic catalyst carrier, in which contact parts of metallic foils are joined to each other at their end faces and any fusion in the parts other than the contact parts of the metallic foils can be prevented from occurring. CONSTITUTION:At the time of assembling the metallic catalyst carrier, the projecting parts 5 which project in the axial direction are formed in the vicinity of the curved parts of the corrugated foil 4 to be in contact with the flat foil 3. These foils in contact with each other are joined to each other by the electric discharge joining through the projecting parts 5, at which the discharge current is concentrated at the time of performing the discharge joining and the flat foil 3 and the corrugated foil 4 are fused and joined together. The metallic catalyst carrier thus manufactured, in which any plugging of openings of the carrier by fused metal does not occur, has reduced gas passage resistance differently from that manufactured by fusing the edges of the foils. |
