PURPOSE:To provide a method for fluidized bed catalytic cracking of residual oil intended to smoothly crack residual oil while suppressing coke production. CONSTITUTION:In a method for cracking residual oil by bringing it into contact with a fluidized catalyst bed at elevated temperatures, the inner tube and outer tube of a two-fluid nozzle made up of such inner and outer tubes are fed with the residual oil and steam, respectively, and the residual oil is blown out in the form of droplets together with the steam from the tip of the nozzle to form a mixture of the residual oil droplets and steam and this mixture is brought into contact with the catalyst. In this case, the flow rate of the steam blown out from the nozzle tip and the feed rate of the residual oil based on said steam are regulated, respectively, to maintain the mean droplet diameter of the residual oil blown out of the nozzle tip to the mean particle diameter of the catalyst or lower. |
