PURPOSE: To provide a novel pigment forming coupler contg. a group capable of being discharged into a photosensitive silver halide material during the processing to enhance the resistance of the pigment picture obtained with high activity to the heat, light and humidity changes. CONSTITUTION: This photographic element consists of a substrate and the silver halide smulsion layer to be combined with a coupler having a decoupling group consisting of the carbon ring or heterocyclic ring having a silyl group on at least one cyclic carbon atom and linked to the coupling position of the coupler directly through another cyclic carbon or through a connecting group or a connecting atom, and the silyl group has three kinds of additional groups linked to the silicon atom of the silyl substituent through the aromatic group, heterocyclic group, aliphatic group or connecting atom.
