PURPOSE:To provide ink jet recording paper improved in the chroma of its background an enabling printing of high image quality. CONSTITUTION:An ink receiving coating layer (coating amt.; about 5g/m<2>) based on pigment (e.g; amorphous fine powder silica) and an aqueous resin (e.g; polyvinyl alcohol) is provided on at least one surface of a sheet like support (basis wt.; 65g/m<2>) and pigment or a dye (e.g; rhodamine B) having one or more light absorption peak within a wavelength range of 380-720nm is added to the ink receiving coating layer. By this constitution, high grade ink jet recording paper of high resolving power imparting sharp printing, having excellent ink absorbability, keeping the contrast of printing density, improved in the chroma of the background and having new value capable of facilitating the discrimination from conventional recording paper is provided. |
