PROCESSING METHOD FOR WRITING ERROR DETECTION CHECK BIT

PURPOSE: To provide a method for detecting a writing error to a secondary storage device by performing check bit processing in a multi-DBMS architecture. CONSTITUTION: When an arbitrary page A is first obtained from a secondary storage device 26 by means of a database management system(DBMS) 22 or 24, the check bit information of the page A is kept in the directory entry 35 of a shared store 20 and indicates the pattern which corresponds to the version of the page A in the storage device 26. A changed page A is stored in the in-cache 32 of the store 20 and can only be returned to the device 26 from the cache 32. Therefore, the DBMS 22 or 4 changes the check bit of the page A as necessary based on the check bit information in the entry 35 corresponding to the page A by processing the check bit of the page A itself.
