PURPOSE: To provide an expandable switch type plane (planer) which is inserted into a plurality of processor (expansion) cards for interconnecting the cards through a multistage switch network. CONSTITUTION: A switch type plane 100 is composed of a switch network for asynchronously connecting a plurality of nodes, a plurality of card slot groups 200 which are respectively connected to individual bus structures and can constitute node elements having characteristics which change in accordance with the functions executed by cards, a plurality of node elements which can transmit data to the switch network and can receive data from the network, a plurality of bus architecture converting means 130 and 137 which apply standard bus architectures and protocols to the architecture and protocol of the switch network, and expansion interfaces 600 and 607 which contain drivers and receivers and provide means for interconnecting a plurality of switch routes on the outside of the plane.
