PURPOSE: To provide a reagent excellent in convenience, stability and reliability, and having a long shelf life in an unopened final and even after it is once opened by forming the reagent of thromboplastin tissue extract, calcium ion, a stabilizer and an antibacterial agent. CONSTITUTION: A thromboplastin concentrated tissue such rabbit brain acetone powder(RBAP) is purified, thereby removing an extrinsic basic non- thromboplastin content, and then mixed with an extracting solution at a temperature for deriving the extraction of thromboplastin, whereby thromboplastin is extracted from the purified RBAP. The thromboplastin-contained supernatant is diluted by use of albumin and calcium ion under a condition advantageous for formation of acinus or micelle. Further, pH is regulated to stabilize the solution, an antibacterial agent is added to the solution, and the resulting solution is tested for prothrombin time. Thus, a reagent having a life of at least 16 months in an unopened final vessel, and at least 10 days even when it is once opened can be provided.
