PURPOSE:To perform file exchange which is not limited by the kind of a commu nication terminal constituting an LAN or an application to be used. CONSTITUTION:A client selects a client terminal to which a file is transferred and a file format to be converted, and requests a processing to a server device 1. Then, when a file format conversion processing request is inputted to a server control part 6, the server control part 6 requests client filing to a picture processing part 9. A document converted into an image file is converted again into the file format requested from the client, and file transfer is operated through an LAN control part 5 to the designated client terminal by the server control part 6.
