PURPOSE: To permit one of both optical fibers, having an inclined end surface in end part connecting parts, to be displacable in the end part connecting parts with respect to the other optical fiber. CONSTITUTION: An optical element is constituted of the optical fibers 12 consisting of a coating 16 and a core 18, and the optical fibers are jointed by a miter joint 14 at the first end part connecting part 20 and the second end part connecting part 22 which are respectively provided with the inclined end surfaces 24 and 26. The end part connecting parts 20 and 22 are supported by a supporting part 28, where a V-shaped groove part is formed and a linkage supporting part 32 having leg parts 34 and 40. An adjustment element 30, consisting of a piezoelectric element, is provided between the both leg parts of the linkage supporting part 32. The end part connecting parts 22 is made to be relatively displacable with respect to the end part connecting part 20 by the adjustment element. Thus, a switching function or a modulating function is realized in the optical element. |
