PURPOSE:To reproduce even picture data such as a character or a symbol comprising a set of very small dots that might disappear depending on a set reduction rate. CONSTITUTION:When binary picture data are stored in a picture memory 4 by using a scanner 1 to read a picture of an original, a controller section 5 compares discriminates binary picture data segmented by a prescribed character size with character 7 symbol data comprising a set of very small dots read from a font memory 7, and font data read from the font memory 7 are expanded in the picture memory 4 in place of reduced binary picture data segmented by a new compensation section 9 when both the data are coincident to compensate missing dots. |
