PURPOSE: To provide a method for generating an optic fiber coupler having improved mechanical strength, especially, pulling strength. CONSTITUTION: Plural optical fibers 17 and 18 are welded, in order to generate the fiber optical coupler, and then, the end parts of the fibers 17 and 18 are adhered to a substrate, so that sufficient pulling strength is given to the fiber which is externally extended. The adhesive resin can be permitted to flow from its applied point towards a welded area, where the adhesive resin adhesively effect a device. Ultraviolet rays are radiated to the fibers 17 and 18 at the previously decided point where the fluidization of the adhesive resin has to stop, in order to prevent the adhesive resin to flow far towards the welded area and also to permit sufficient quantity of the resin to flow for reinforcing the fibers 17 and 18. When the adhesive resin is hardened by the beams, the fluidization of the adhesive resin is stopped. After that, the residual part of the adhesive resin is hardened. |
