ELECTRONIC MESSAGE COMMUNICATION PATH SELECTION METHOD

PURPOSE: To provide a method for sending an electronic message to a receiving station from an originating station through a large-scale parallel processing system network composed of a plurality of switches and links. CONSTITUTION: An electronic message is sent to a series of switches. Each switch reads a route signal in the message and sends the message to a switch or station having the input port connected to the output port designated by the route signal. A candidate path starting from an originating station and ending at a first address candidate is designated. When one or more address candidates are receiving stations, candidate paths ending at the receiving stations are selected and a series of route signals corresponding to the selected candidate paths is generated. When none of the address candidates is the receiving station, the candidate path is further expanded.
