PURPOSE:To provide a method and a device for bonding a solid polyelectrolyte film to electrodes, which prevents electrode sheets from being softened and attached to press plates during hot press of a stack comprising the solid polyelectrolyte film and the electrode sheets, thus preventing damage to the electrode sheets. CONSTITUTION:An electrode sheet 3 is formed by stacking a catalyst layer on top of an electrode base which is made water-repellent by impregnating carbon paper serving as electrode base with a dispersion of polytetrafluoroethyelene, and drying and firing it. A stack comprising a solid polyelectrolyte film sandwiched between two electrode sheets and two metallic meshes 4, 5 and two polytetrafluoroethylene sheets 6, 7 sequentially sandwiched therebetween is put in a pressure metal mold formed by a combination of a female metal mold 8 and a male metal mold 9, and hot press is carried out to bond the solid polyelectrolyte film to each of the electrode sheets to form a stack. |
