Universal joint for prop shafts has a protective cap (30) round the body of the journals assembly (13). There are four collars (31), according to the journal (15a-d) arrangement, extending radially inwards over the inner surfaces (23) of the ends of the bearing sleeves (17) projecting over the fork arms, with play. The protective cap (30) is divided.Protective cap (30) is pref. an injection moulded plastics component, esp. of Lupolene (RTM).
