PURPOSE: To provide a sensor-assembly device that utilizes hydratable films by constructing the same from a sensor element and the like, the sensor element being a nonconductive substrate having an analyte sensor which contains one or more hydrophilic films and having an electric circuit. CONSTITUTION: A housing 10 contains a channel 12 and a sensor element 14. The element 14 has one or more sensors 18 having hydrophilic films, a part of each sensor 18 being electrically connected to an electric circuit means 20. Openings 24, 26 are provided which are placed along a channel 12 and in different positions with respect to the element 14. A hydrated fluid 22 receiving fluid pressure from one of the openings flows across the element 14 and comes into contact with the sensor 18. The openings 24, 26 are sealed by water- impermeable seals 28, 30. To measure contact with the sensor 18, a connection to a device is made by the housing ends 36, 38. The fluid 22 passes by non- capillary action or flowing. Housing parts 32, 34 can help provide electrical insulation between the fluid 22 and the electric circuit 20. |
