The accumulator has an electrode (1) formed with a thin lead foil (2). On both sides layers of plastics material (3) are insulating and acid resistant. These layers carry layers of positive active lead oxide (4) and negative active lead (5). The plastics material layers are formed with circular apertures such that the lead oxide and lead paste contact the lead foil.The holes on the positive side have radii of 2-5 mm and on the negative side are 1-3 mm.
