Safety mounting for rear view driving mirror in vehicle

The interior rear view driving mirror (9) is mounted on a support foot (7) which clips onto a mounting bracket (13) glued to the inside of the windscreen. The fitting has a spring clip interposed to provide a safety release if the mirror is struck. An additional safety facility releases the mirror mounting when subjected to a steady pressure.The mirror mounting includes a sloping ramp profile (21) which interacts with a profiled lip (29) of the mounting bracket when subject to a steady pressure. The spring clip has shaped ends which clip into recesses on the one side of the mounting.
